Christopher Rownes FFF Fly casting Instructor explains why
he is qualified to teach you fly fishing and fly casting.

My Name is Christopher Rownes, I am British and I live in Basel,
Switzerland .
I began Flyfishing at the age of eight on the small streams
of England and Wales, on these elf brooks I caught my first
wild brown trout and fell in love with their wildness and beauty.
Since then I have travelled and fished extensively all over
the world and have been lucky to work and develop my fly casting
and fly fishing techniques alongside many well known fly fishers.
I was privileged to study Fly-casting under the guidance of
the legendary Mel Krieger. It was Mel who introduced me to fly
casting instruction. His philosophy on teaching and fly-casting
instruction is without parallel.
I have worked intensively with Paul Arden and we have given
many workshops together throughout Europe. Paul has brought
fly-casting into the cyber age. To my mind he is at the cutting
edge of fly-casting and fly-casting instruction.
Both Mel and Paul are my mentors; they inspired and formed my
fly-casting technique and fly-casting instruction technique.

I have spent countless hours perfecting my fly-casting and teaching
techniques.
I am a Certified Fly Casting Instructor of the Federation of
Fly fishers America and also Europe, these organisations are
made up of some of the most influential names in fly fishing,
their standards are very high.
My certifications ensures that I am able to pass on this knowledge.
I am proud to belong to these great organisations.
I am also a founding member of the Board of Governors of the
Commission Nacional de Lanzado in Spain.
I think my most important qualification is experience.
MY VIEWS ON FLY CASTING INSTRUCTION TODAY
I believe fly-casting is constantly evolving, and that it is
important to keep an open and inquisitive mind to all styles
of fly-casting, each style has its own particular application.
Why is there such diversity in fly-casting? I think it is simply
because of the various species we now pursue with the fly and
the need to suit individual and local fishing circumstances.
We should not limit our selves to just one style, that's what
makes fly-casting so fascinating we never stop learning.
